Its Kamal's birthday. I was sure that he would do something different this time too. He did not celerbrate his day. Instead he urged his fans with a message "an individual's birthday loses credence or importance when genocide is practiced in our neighbouring island with renewed vigour." He was referring to the on-going conflict in Sri Lanka.

Chandra-Man!

Today I got an opportunity to meet the Chandrayaan Project Director Dr.Mylsamy Annadurai today. He is a simple man, but displayed passion and pride in achieving the mission. Tomorrow, the same time the Chandrayaan will be close to the orbit. He did not smile much, shared some wits once in a while. I take a lot of pride that a Tamilian has achieved a big feat.

ஒபாமாவின் வெற்றி

வேலைக்கு போனோமா
வீட்டுக்கு வந்தோமா
என்று இருந்தோமா;
அமெரிக்கா தேர்தல் முடிவு
நமக்கு வரமா ஒபாமா
பொறுத்திருந்து பார்ப்போமா?

I wrote this witty poem to reflect the moods of Indians on Obama's thoughts on outsourcing to India. Scripted while bathing.

Catching Cold

The weather looks good; but feels bad. Common cold is back - its so common that everybody seems to be saying "i too have cold". Is a climate change phenomena that everyone catching cold at the sametime? Well, today's research report clarifies my doubt:
Researchers have found that the common household surfaces like TV remote control, refrigerator door handles and bathroom taps are the hotspots to spread cold virus. By touching these contaminated surfaces, the virus could transfer to another and cause a cold infection.
So, know that your door knobs and remote controls are the top germ carriers. Read on more here.

Glaucoma Suspect

The eye specialist suggested that I go for Glaucoma test as I am a Glaucoma suspect. The pressure conditions in my eyes made me a suspect. The doc says it could be hereditary but none of my family members have this. The doc suggests that there symptoms would not be that prominent, so, its better one undergoes regular checkup. I will be going for the test in another couple of days.
Here is a good faq on the glaucoma:

Kumble's quitting

Kumble has announced his retirement from international cricket. Its a welcome decision as very few people know when to quit. I also wonder if the media played a mind game by speculating on the retirement of senior players. Surprisingly, Ganguly announced his retirement, and now its Kumble's turn.
Injury is the primary reason cited, but its an open secret "the form" also matters. The senior players are not consistent any more.
Voluntary retirements will pave for bringing in fresh talents.
